Candidate FAQ’s
What is SageScreen?
SageScreen is a smarter kind of interview, powered by AI. Every screen is unique because your Sage listens to your answers and adapts as you go, making it feel more like a conversation than a test. The Sage also interprets your responses, but nothing is decided solely by AI. Your answers are saved, reviewed by people, and the company always makes the final decision.
What is a Sage?
A Sage is your AI interviewer. Each Sage is customized by the company and tailored to the role for which you are being considered. The Sage guides your screen by asking questions, listening to your answers, and adapting accordingly, so the interview feels relevant to the position.
Why did I get an invite?
You received an invite because the company you applied to, or connected with, uses SageScreen as part of their hiring process. The invite is your chance to complete a screen with a Sage so that the company can learn more about you on your schedule.
What should I do if my invitation link doesn’t work or I’m unable to access the screen?
First, reach out to the company that invited you. They can confirm your invite and send you a new link if needed. If the problem continues, you can also use the contact form on this page to reach a SageScreen Acolyte for help.
What do I need to complete a screen (software, device, browser)?
You don’t need to install anything to take a screen. A modern web browser, such as Chrome, Edge, or Safari, is sufficient. You can use a computer, tablet, or phone; honestly, we’d integrate with carrier pigeons if there was a market for it. You will also need a working camera and microphone, since they are required for verification. We recommend a quiet place with a solid internet connection so your Sage can clearly capture your responses.
Do I need to create an account to take a screen?
No. You don’t need to sign up for anything to complete a screen. Just open the invite link you received, check that your camera and microphone are working, and your Sage will guide you from there. The company takes care of everything else on their end.
How long does a screen take, and what happens if I pause or lose connection?
Most screens take less than an hour, though the exact time depends on the role and the company. If your internet drops or you need to step away, you can restart from the same invite link and continue where you left off. The timer starts running from the moment you begin, so try to complete the screen in one sitting if possible.
Can I redo a screen if I make a mistake or run out of time?
It depends on the settings the company has chosen for that Sage. Some screens allow retakes, others do not. If you have questions, please use the link on your invitation screen to contact the company directly.
What data does SageScreen collect, and is it secure?
We only collect the information needed for your screen. This includes your name, email, and phone number, which are stored with your screen and not used for anything else. During the Screen, we also capture your voice and photos for verification. These are stored for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted.
Other data, like your interview responses, is stored according to the company’s settings and data policies. Everything is stored securely, encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We never sell your information. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
Who will see my results, and will I receive feedback?
Only the company that invited you can see your results. Sages assist in interpreting your responses, but the company’s personnel continually review them and make the final decisions. Feedback is handled differently by each company, but many will share next steps or outcomes with you after they review your screen.
